Contains a library of tartans (plaids) tweeds and checks, traditional and modern which can be used for knitwear and furnishings in a variety of different fibres.

The tartans are reminiscent of different tradition scottish clan tartans, but are not the actual tartans. The "red royal" tartan, for example, featured on the fron cover of the 2008 Knit and Stitches Calendar below, looks a bit like the Royal Stewart tartan. Some of the tartan designs are on the diagonal. The basic designs can be knitted in many different colour combinations and instructions are provided for a total of 46 different fabrics. One volume contains both 24 & 40 st. versions of the designs. Below are some fabrics knitted with designs from this collection.
